Dutchess and her sister Sheila are survivors of someone's incomprehensible disregard for life. They were rescued in June of 2006 (at 9-12 weeks of age) from a busy South Carolina truckers' highway where they had been "set out".
Both suffered with flea and tick infestation, demodectic mange, skin infection, malnutrition, dehydration, internal parasites, anxiety, etc.. After several weeks of intensive veterinary attention and overall loving care the pups were able to make a complete recovery.

Dutchess and Sheila are spayed, UTD on vaccines and are on a monthly parasite preventative. They weigh 68 pounds each and are approximately 17 months young. They are crate trained, house trained and accustomed to using a pet door. They know basic commands such as "sit", "come" and "no".
They love nighttime lazer-pointer dot chasing. (We highly recommend outdoor dot chasing only.) Every evening Dutchess typically sounds the first dot-time alarm just after dusk. And she is always first "out of the gate" racing after it. Sheila's other favorite outdoor activities are swimming and relaxing in the coolness of a freshly dug hole.
Dutchess has alpha tendencies at playtime with pups her age. With older dogs both Dutchess and Sheila are submissive. They are cat friendly indoors; outdoors they need light monitoring.
These gorgeous girls are wonderful companions. They would be well suited to forever-homes with families that are in search of love, loyalty and entertainment. They are most precious rescued treasures.
